Renew Our Rivers/Rivers Alive
Each year, Georgia Power sponsors and participates in river and lake cleanups around the state near many of our generating facilities. These events are hosted and sponsored by Georgia Power through Southern Company's Renew Our Rivers initiative. In 2013, more than 50 tons of debris were removed from Georgia waterways through the joint efforts of Georgia Power and Southern Company. That's not all Georgia Power does to preserve our waterways. Georgia Power is a corporate sponsor of Rivers Alive, a volunteer waterway cleanup event targeting streams, rivers, lakes, beaches and wetlands throughout Georgia. Rivers Alive organizers, along with thousands of volunteers, have picked up millions of pounds of trash over the years. You can give something back to the environment by getting involved.
