Georgia Power restores power to 315,000+ customers impacted by severe thunderstorms June 25 and 26

Georgia Power crews safely responded to severe thunderstorms that crossed the state late on June 25. In the 24 hours following the storms, which caused extensive damage in Macon, central Georgia, and Metro Atlanta, power crews restored power more than 315,000 customers. Crews worked safely and as quickly as possible to repair power poles, downed electric lines and damaged equipment caused mostly by fallen trees and branches.

Throughout the storm, Georgia Power helped customers can stay up to date with latest information using multiple resources, including:

  • Outage Alerts – Subscribe to the free Georgia Power Outage Alert service to receive personalized notifications and updates via text message.
  • Outage & Storm Center – Available at www.georgiapower.com/storm, customers can visit this site to sign up for Outage Alerts, report and check the status of outages, and access useful safety tips and information.   • Outage Map – Housed within the Outage & Storm Center, Georgia Power’s interactive Outage Map provides near real-time information, allowing users to see where outages are occurring across the state and track estimated restoration times.
