Our 6-week Lineworker Entry Program offers you the chance to get paid while you learn.

Through hands-on experience and training from experienced professionals, this is your opportunity to explore what it means to be a lineworker and if it's the right fit for you.

Complete the program and you'll receive consideration on your application to our apprenticeship program to continue your skill development and start a career at Georgia Power.

No previous experience required. Relevant work, certifications or trainings, or military experience may be beneficial but are not mandatory. Applicants will be required to provide identification and proof of residency to our program partner BLOC Resources.

Life as a Lineworker

Lineworkers are involved in the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems. Learn construction and maintenance activities associated with power distribution systems and work with equipment involved in the process, including line trucks, cranes, aerial devices, pulling and tensioning equipment.

What is the application deadline?

The application deadline for the first cohort is April 30, 2025. Subsequent cohorts will have their own deadlines. Come back and visit this web page for up-to-date information on future cohorts.

Can I reapply if I am not accepted into the program?

Yes, individuals who are not accepted into the program can reapply for future cohorts. Feedback on the application may be provided to help improve future submissions.

Will I be a Georgia Power employee during my participation in the program?

No. During the six-week program you will be a program participant through BLOC Resources, an approved Georgia Power vendor.

What should I expect during the 6 week training period?

Participants can expect a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and fieldwork. The program is designed to be intensive and immersive, providing a real-world experience of a lineworker's duties.  Participants are evaluated based on their performance, skill acquisition, and adherence to safety standards. Specific criteria will be provided during the program orientation. Upon passing the 6-week program, participants may apply to Georgia Power's apprenticeship program, where they can continue their training and development.

Is there any cost to participate in the program?

No, there is no cost to participate in the program. In fact, participants will earn $21/hour during the training period.

What documentation is required for the application process?

Applicants will need to provide identification, proof of residency, and any relevant work or military experience documentation. Specific requirements will be detailed in the BLOC Resources application form.

Are there any educational or prior experience requirements for the program?

A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required to apply for the program. Additional certifications or training in related fields may be beneficial but are not mandatory. The program is designed to provide all the necessary training to start on the path of a career as a lineworker.
