Grid Investment Program

Statewide.

Our Grid Investment Program is a multi-year initiative to enhance service and reliability in communities across Georgia.

  • Installing smart line devices, adding connections, relocating or strengthening or undergrounding lines, replacing transmission lines and infrastructure, and improving substations.

Easement & Clearance Program

Statewide.

We're seeking additional vegetation clearance easement rights in select locations around the state in order to improve reliability by allowing us to clear the areas of vegetation that will impact our system.

Meter Equipment Upgrade

Statewide.

The Meter Upgrade Program is an initiative by Georgia Power to enhance the accuracy and reliability of energy usage data for customers.

  • Replacing old meters with new smart meters, which provide real-time data, improve outage detection, and enhance overall service reliability.

Austin Road

Decatur, DeKalb – Areas of Panthersville and areas south of Belvedere.

Serving: 14,000+ customers

  • Installing new overhead transmission lines, distribution lines, and associated equipment.
  • Expanded vegetation management and tree-trimming rights.

Briarlake Area

DeKalb – Briar Vista, Briarlake, North Fork, and Northlake Mall.

Serving: 11,000+ customers

  • Installing new overhead transmission lines, distribution lines, and associated equipment.
  • Expanded vegetation management and tree-trimming rights.

Northwest Substation Extensive Rebuild

Fulton, City of Atlanta.

Georgia Power has maintained a substation on this site for decades, providing electricity to numerous residential, commercial, industrial, and public customers in the area.

  • Rebuilding and expanding the existing electrical substation, high-voltage transmission lines, and low voltage distribution circuits.

Thomson-Vogtle Transmission Line

Burke, Jefferson, Warren and McDuffie.

55 miles long, 500 kV transmission line to connect the two new nuclear units at Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro with the Thomson Primary substation, southeast of Thomson.
