Education

Creating opportunities through learning

We are dedicated to improving and strengthening educational initiatives to help students across the state build brighter futures. That's why the Georgia Power Foundation is continuously contributing millions of dollars to educational programming, schools, scholarships and educator training that focus on the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

These efforts not only focus on advancing the student experience, but also providing educators with the tools necessary to motivate their students.

Through these programs we hope to influence generations of students to think critically and to be excited about careers in science and technology – after all, it's the passionate, educated and driven students of today that become the bright minds of our state's workforce tomorrow.

Learning Power

Georgia Power electrifies classrooms with fun activities, games and experiments to bring the exciting world of energy to life for teachers, students and parents. With in-class and virtual lesson formats, Education Coordinators deliver hands-on, STEM-based energy and energy efficiency lessons at all grade levels, Pre-K through high school. Aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence in science and math, the Learning Power program supports STEM learning and career exploration.

Junior Achievement Partnership Promotes Financial Literacy

Georgia Power is helping to promote financial literacy among youth by joining with Junior Achievement (JA), Chick-fil-A to open JA's Chick-fil-A Foundation Discovery Centers, a financial literacy and career readiness center. The centers teach Atlanta-area middle school students the basics of finance and business. They include a Georgia Power storefront where students learn about budgeting and financial literacy.

Workforce Development

Our Workforce Development programs grow awareness of the energy industry through educator camps and forums, educator externships and career events. Our goal is to cultivate a pool of talented, well-trained candidates for the hard-to-fill jobs in Georgia's energy industry.
