In Georgia Power's 2016 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) the Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) authorized the development of a Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customer renewable program that would allow Georgia Power to procure up to 200 MW of additional renewable generation through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) that C&I customers could utilize to support their sustainability initiatives.
Georgia Power will develop projects from the Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) utility scale RFP on behalf of C&I customer participants, who will sign a 10-30 year contract. Participating customers will purchase the renewable facility production at a fixed Portfolio Price and receive Hourly Credit based on production from the PPA(s). Hourly credits will be based on Georgia Power's hourly cost of incremental generation.
The program is designed for Georgia Power C&I customers with aggressive renewable energy goals and a need for renewable energy credits (RECs).
As future program designs may be considered, more details will be made available. Currently, a great alternative for your renewable energy goals is our Simple Solar program.
Through our planning process and customer partnerships, Georgia Power will continue to evaluate and develop similar program designs to meet its customers’ renewable energy needs.
