Georgia Power and Atlanta Braves partner with Ser Familia for service project

Georgia Power is a partner of the Braves' “Nuestra Cultura” initiative, honoring and celebrating Hispanic and Latino players who have made contributions to baseball on and off the field. Service is a key focus area for the initiative. Both organizations partnered with Ser Familia, Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps Latino families develop stronger bonds and nurtures their potential.

Atlanta Braves front office, including former player Eddie Perez, Georgia Power volunteers from “Citizens of Georgia Power," and employee resource group AMIGOS dedicated their time to paint a mural, which included animals represented from different countries. The animals are used in several counseling techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapy designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories.

The new office in Smyrna, Georgia, will be the first location in the state to offer EMDR counseling in Spanish.

Ser Familia's mission is to strengthen, revitalize and equip Latino youth, couples, parents and families through educational programs that teach improved life, leadership and communication skills, empowering participants to thrive and enjoy a healthy family environment.
