Georgia Power participates in Atlanta Pride Festival

Georgia Power was proud to serve as a Gold Sponsor of the 48th annual Atlanta Pride Festival. More than 300,000 people attended the festival, considered one of the oldest and largest gay pride celebrations in the nation.

Corporate and community support continue to grow every year for the festival, which celebrates community and diversity through live entertainment, cultural exhibits and a vendor marketplace that was home to over 200 booths this year.

“Our events have grown quite a bit in recent years, due in large part to a growing number of sponsors looking not only to support our community at large but also to specifically support their employees who identify as members of LGBTQ communities,” said Jaime Fergerson, executive director of Atlanta Pride Committee. “Georgia Power has been a leader in corporate social responsibility and inclusion, so we are proud to have Georgia Power with us in the Parade and Festival.”

The famous Atlanta Pride Parade marched through the city featuring costumes, floats and music. Over 25 Georgia Power employees enjoyed participating in the parade as they walked along the parade route, and Georgia Power provided a cell phone charging station for sponsors and guests in the Festival’s VIP area.

Georgia Power’s signature bucket truck was not available for this year’s parade because of storm restoration duties, but an electric vehicle took its place as it quietly hummed alongside the parade floats.
