How Georgia Power inspired employees to complete over 30,000 hours of community service in 2023

In 1927, Georga Power President Preston Arkwright coined the phrase, “A Citizen Wherever We Serve.” Since then, the company has developed one of the largest corporate employee volunteer groups in the state. The volunteer services team works to establish relationships with organizations around the state, gather funding through the Georgia Power Foundation, and help employees find opportunities in their communities to serve.

In 2023, Georgia Power employees logged more than 30,000 hours of community service and 200 projects through organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Friends of Georgia State Parks, Georgia Pre-K Week, Wreaths Across America, Boys & Girls Clubs, homeless shelters, schools, food banks, and many more.

In this video, Chris D’Andrea, Volunteer Services Manager, speaks to Georgia CEO Magazine about how business owners can get their employees involved in their volunteerism efforts.
